After blowing out the candles on his birthday cake, Sam has a busy evening: spurning the advances of his fiancée, Marsha, one of the more mature ladies working at the cat-house; breaking up an incident with a rowdy bunch of sailors; and then receiving a visit from Jake Dorleac, the owner of a girls’ finishing school who is looking for one of his students. Sam soon learns that one of his employees, Gina, is the school runaway – and that after inexplicably disappearing in the next twenty-four hours, her badly-beaten body will be found in the swamps one month later…
